UH men's golf benefit slated for Turtle Bay

The Warrior Golf Booster Club, which supports University of Hawai'i men's golf, will hold its major fund-raiser in conjunction with the team's fall tournament at Turtle Bay Resort.
Entries are being accepted for the inaugural Warrior Golf Booster Club Fall College-Am Tournament, presented by Barona Valley Ranch Resort and Casino. It will be Oct. 30 at Turtle Bay's Palmer course.
The shotgun start is at 11:30 a.m. Four-player teams will be joined by two collegiate players.
Individual entries are $125. There are also team sponsorships ($500 for four golfers), Silver sponsorships ($800 for four and hole sponsorship) and gold sponsorships ($1,500 for eight and hole sponsorship).

The UH/Turtle Bay Intercollegiate will be Nov. 1 to 3. The Warriors open their season Sept. 27 and 28, in University of Denver's Ron Moore Intercollegiate, at Riverdale Dunes Golf Club.
Kim captures senior medalist honors
Bev Kim won medalist honors Tuesday at the Hawai'i qualifier for the U.S. Golf Association Senior Women's Amateur. Kim, a member of the Hawai'i Golf Hall of Fame, shot a 4-over-par 77 at Honolulu Country Club.
Kim, from Wahiawa, won out over a field of 20, a total that gave Hawai'i six qualifying spots for nationals.
Other qualifiers were Rose Pagan (81), Suzie Kimi (89), Lily Yao (90), Biac Frame (92) and Barbara Millslagle (92).
Mona Kim-Lee tied for second at 81 but declined her spot.
The national championship will be Oct. 9 to 14 at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, Calif.
Honolulu's Shigero Matsui claimed Hawai'i's only spot for the men's USGA Senior Amateur, shooting a 4-over-74 at Oahu Country Club on Sept. 8. The national tournament is Oct. 9 to 14 at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles.
Wells Fargo to sponsor WAC men's tourney
Wells Fargo will be title sponsor of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Western Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships. The announcement was made by WAC commissioner Karl Benson and Wells Fargo vice president Roger Schmitz last week.
As part of the agreement, Wells Fargo secured the rights to house and manage the WAC's checking and investment accounts through the 2006-07 academic year.
The three-year agreement will go into effect immediately.
Local golfers fare well at amateur event
Eldon Chow of Honolulu and Michael Eurell of Waipahu finished with 72-hole gross scores of 343 at the 21st annual DuPont World Amateur. Chow had a 303 net score and Eurell 305. Ian MacLean of 'Aiea finished at 352 for a 306 net score.
The tournament was played Aug. 29 to Sept. 3 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The DuPont World Amateur Handicap Championship is the world's largest amateur golf tournament. It was held on more than 70 courses and attracted 3,852 golfers (3,557 male and 295 female) from all 50 states and 23 foreign countries.
Jeannette Fenner, a 16-handicap golfer from Sturgis, Mich., became only the second woman champion in the 21-year history. She won her flight and then beat 57 male and female golfers in the final playoff.
