Brook Lee will host new show

Advertiser Staff

Brook Lee, the 1997 Miss Universe, is host of "Pacific Fusion," a new TV show premiering at 4 p.m. today on KHON-2.

The show explores and examines the diversity and flair of Asian Pacific American culture, in Honolulu and in San Francisco (KRON-4), with plans for further expansion.

The premiere episode features Olympic skater Kristi Yamaguchi, at home with her new baby in Alamo; George Chung, San Francisco 49er football coach whose life embraces martial arts and football; the Slanted Door, a hot new restaurant, and its pace-setting chef, George Phan; and Lee's journey from Miss Hawai'i USA to Miss Universe.

Future shows will focus on dragon boat racing, Asian pioneers in baseball, publications that examine the culture of the young and the hip, Olympic skaters, a Tahitian dance festival, Asian actors and even a Spam-eating contest in San Francisco.

"Pacific Focus" is being produced by notables in the Asian American journalism community, including Jan Yanehiro.
