Boy arrested after tourist set aflame

Police yesterday arrested a 12-year-old boy on suspicion that he intentionally set a Japanese tourist's jacket on fire as she was boarding a city bus in Kailua.
The woman suffered second-degree burns to her arms and neck. She was treated at Castle Medical Center and released.
The incident occurred at 4:30 p.m. near Macy's in Kailua. The boy was arrested on Keolu Drive and booked for second-degree assault.
Three people arrested in a police drug raid Friday at 766 Pu'uhale Road in Kalihi have been charged and will be arraigned today in District Court.
Allen Dela Cruz, 50, of Ala Lilikoi Street, is charged with two counts of second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia. His cash-only bail was set at $25,000.
Larry Araga, 37, and Marijane Labrador, 29, who live at 766 Pu'uhale Road, were each charged with third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and a paraphernalia offense. Araga's bail totals $15,000 while Labrador was held in lieu of $11,000 bail.
Honolulu police were investigating three weekend armed robberies, two of them involving cab drivers in Waikiki.
The drivers were both robbed by a man displaying a blade-type weapon, possibly a box cutter.
Police also have not arrested a suspect in yesterday's holdup of a convenience store at Harding and Koko Head avenues in Kaimuki.
Two women employees were robbed of personal cash at 5:15 a.m. by a man with a gun.
A man who was beaten unconscious in a fight yesterday at Ala Moana Park died last night at The Queen's Medical Center.
The fight occurred behind the kokohead concession at the park and was reported to police at about 4:30 p.m. The victim, a homeless man, police said, was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died at 5:27 p.m.
The man who allegedly beat the victim was arrested at a bus stop on Kapi'olani Boulevard at 6:02 p.m. His name was not released.
A 22-year-old man turned himself in to Big Island police yesterday for investigation of a hit-and-run accident that seriously injured a pedestrian Saturday.
Police said Joshua H. Shimaoka, a Kailua resident, surrendered at 6:30 a.m. yesterday. Police took a statement from Shimaoka and released him pending further investigation.
Police also found a vehicle that may have been involved, a blue 1996 Honda four-door sedan.
Witnesses said a 34-year-old Kailua woman was walking along the shoulder of the road when she was struck by a car heading south toward Kailua. They said the motorist was speeding, overtaking other cars and using the shoulder to pass.
The woman was in guarded condition at Kona Community Hospital.
