Stroller Strides helps new moms get back in shape

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes mom squeezing in a workout by pushing the baby carriage?

New moms can be on their way back to fitness with a program called Stroller Strides, designed for new moms and babies. The program celebrates its first anniversary this month with a free class from 8:45 to 10 a.m. Friday at Kapi'olani Park. The class meets by the bathrooms in the Waikiki Shell parking lot on Monsarrat Avenue. Classes are taught by certified instructors. For information, visit www.strollerstrides.com.

Final word

Jeff Simon | Buffalo News, in a commentary criticizing TV shows "Hawaii" and "North Shore":

"And now a brief word from outsider wisdom: Nothing good on television has ever been set in Hawaii. Ever.

Not "Hawaiian Eye," full of Warner Brothers ingenues of both genders, not "Hawaii Five-0," with Jack Lord lording it over everyone, not the miniseries version of James Michener's novel "Hawaii." Nothing. Zip.

"Rule of thumb: Paradise makes for lousy TV."
