The dean of the University of Hawai'i-Manoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene has accepted a similar position at Kent State University.
Julie Johnson made the announcement to her staff yesterday afternoon, the university said, and will remain at UH until January. Johnson has been with UH since August 2003.
As dean of Kent State's College of Nursing, Johnson will help develop a college of health sciences.
UH chancellor Peter Englert said the university will miss Johnson's dedication. "She has been especially effective in building community and professional coalitions to support our program here," he said.
