Nonprofit EAH to manage sites

Advertiser Staff

California-based nonprofit EAH Inc. said it has been selected to manage three downtown Honolulu affordable housing complexes owned by the city.

The affordable-housing development and management firm said it will assume management of the 90-unit Harbor Village Apartments, 200-unit Chinatown Gateway Plaza and 236-unit Marin Tower.

EAH manages about 6,000 affordable rental units, including 1,185 in Hawai'i where it manages other property.

A local affiliate of EAH, Hui Kauhale Inc., also plans to develop 240 low-income rental apartments at 'Ewa Villages. Hui Kauhale was selected by the city in 1999 to develop a vacant 23-acre site off Renton Road across from 'Ewa Elementary School.

Names sought for top exporter

The state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism is seeking nominees for its Exporter of the Year awards program. The deadline for nominations is Oct. 8.

The Exporter of the Year will be selected from winners in the following categories: fresh commodities, manufactured products, professional services, high technology; the arts, and new exporter. Nominees must be registered to do business in Hawai'i and have exports constitute at least 20 percent of total sales, or exceed their sector's average percentage for exports.

Winners will be recognized at an awards ceremony, receive an engraved award and governor's proclamation and be entitled to use the exporter logo for three years.
