The Hawai'i Tsunami, a baseball team of 9-year-olds from Mililani, finished as runner-up at the Triple Crown Sports Fall Nationals at Las Vegas earlier this month and earned a berth in the baseball Triple Crown World Series in Colorado next year.

Mililani lost to the Southern California Storm for the championship, 7-5.

The Tsunami finished the three-day, 10-team tournament 4- 1, including 3-0 in pool play.

Hawai'i Tsunami roster: Andrew Baltazar, Hoku Botelho, Tyler Kaga, Reese Kato, Layne Kishi, Jamesson Madrid, Jacob Mariano, Rayson Romero, Brandon Saiki, Ryne Saiki, Matthew Sparks and Beau Winchester. Head Coach/Manager: Lloyd Kishi.

Tournament scores—Pool play: Tsunami 7, Arizona Big Dawgs 6, 7 innings; Tsunami 10, Nevada Wildcats 4; Tsunami 6, California ASD Bulldogs 5. Semifinals: Tsunami 4, Arizona Big Dawgs 2. Championship: Tsunami 5, Southern California Storm 7.

U.S. finishes second at Connolly Cup

The United States Women's 55 team fell short of defending its Connolly Cup title Saturday at Philadelphia., falling to Australia.

The Americans won one singles match, lost the other and fell in doubles to Australia.

Judy (Leong) Louie, a former Hawai'i resident, was a member of the U.S. team. Louie, who grew up in Hawai'i and attended the University of Hawai'i, was joined on the team by Trish Faulkner, Anne Guerrant, Margaret Russo and Brenda Carter.

Earlier in the tournament, the United States beat Mexico, France, Ireland and Great Britain.
