Advertiser Staff

Critics weren't kind to it, but audiences took a shine to "The Forgotten," which took in the most cash on a weak-movie weekend, according to USA Today. The Julianne Moore (pictured) thriller scared up $22 million, according to estimates from box-office tracking firm Nielsen EDI — $7 million more than most analysts predicted. "First Daughter," the Katie Holmes romantic comedy, managed $4 million, good for fourth place behind "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" at $6.7 million and "Mr. 3000" at $5 million. "Shaun of the Dead" took in $3.3 million.

Honolulu gets a 'B' in sex diseases

Detroit, Atlanta, Chicago and San Francisco are among 14 cities earning an "F" for their high rates of sexually transmitted disease, according to an evaluation of 101 major cities by Men's Health magazine in its October issue. "A-plus" ratings were earned by Anaheim and Santa Ana, Calif., and Spokane, Wash. Surprisingly, Las Vegas, aka "Sin City" earned a "B."

To pinpoint each city's incidence of sexually transmitted disease, the magazine collected the most recent rates of gonorrhea, syphilis and chlamydia as well as HIV mortality numbers as reported to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Honolulu earned a "B," tying for the 17th-safest spot in the major-city rankings.
