Hawaiian Air jet lease approved

A U.S. Bankruptcy judge has approved Hawaiian Airlines' new agreement with Boeing Capital Corp. to lease 11 Boeing 717-200 jets and three Boeing 767-300ER planes, which is part of Hawaiian's effort to emerge from bankruptcy protection.

Details of the new agreement have not been disclosed. In the order signed by Judge Robert Faris approving the new deal, however, attorneys said that BCC still has an unsecured $66.5 million claim against Hawaiian.



FedEx closing Bishop St. office

FedEx announced it will close its World Service Center at 841 Bishop Street on Oct. 15. After that date, FedEx Express and FedEx Ground packages can be shipped from FedEx Kinko's Office and Print Centers at 590 Queen Street; 1500 Kapi'olani Blvd.; and 2575 S. King Street. In addition, FedEx Express packages can be dropped off the the FedEx drop box at 1001 Bishop Street.



Pier 1 big box planned here

Pier 1 Imports said it will open a "large format" store Oct. 16 at 1000 Kamehameha Highway in the Pearl Highlands Center.

With a floor space of 19,556 square feet, the store will be roughly twice the size of a regular Pier 1 outlet, the company said. The store will be Pier 1's third in Hawai'i, and the company's 12th large format outlet in the country. The store will hire a staff of 45 full- and part-time sales people.
