Michael Castillo gets promoted at Po'ipu

Michael Castillo has been named director of golf for Po'ipu Bay Golf Course. Castillo has served as head golf professional there since 1993.
Castillo has served on the Board of Directors for the Aloha Section PGA since 1998 and was president in 2000 and 2001.
He has been a member of the section's Junior Golf Committee since 1998, served on the Board of Directors of the Hawai'i State Junior Golf Association since 1995, and has been on the Board of Directors of the Kaua'i Junior Golf Association since 1994.
Po'ipu Bay is the home of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, which features the winners of the four major championships. This year's Slam is Nov. 23 and 24.
State senior amateur at Kane'ohe Klipper
The 2004 Hawai'i State Senior Amateur Championship will be Nov. 13 and 14 at Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course. Men 55 and older and women 50 and older are eligible to play.
Entry fee is $150, which includes green fees, carts, practice balls, Saturday dinner and Sunday awards luncheon. Forms are available at HawaiiStateGolf.org or at most courses.
Wendell Kop and Biac Frame are defending champions.
NOTES: The 11th annual Marriott Links to Literacy: A Benefit for the Hawai'i Library Foundation, raised $100,000 $15,000 more than last year. Proceeds help the foundation's mission to support and promote the Hawai'i State Public Library System.
