HIFF spring film fest worth checking today

One of Honolulu's world-class amenities opens today: the Hawaii International Film Festival.

The festival has come a long way in its 25 years. Now in addition to its abundant cornucopia of new and different films each fall, it presents a Spring Showcase, with a different but still reliable flavor.

With 30 films from 14 countries to be screened over seven days (tonight through April 7), this endeavor deserves your support if you're not already one of the thousands of HIFF members. Visit the festival — you'll be rewarded.
