HPU gets 31 hits, but loses two in baseball

Despite amassing 31 hits, Hawaii Pacific was swept in a non-conference doubleheader by Cal State Dominguez Hills, 13-9 and 20-16, yesterday at Carson, Calif.

Chris Martinez had two hits and three RBIs in the opener, and Jose Montes batted 5 for 5 in the second game to lead Dominguez Hills (14-17).

David Benoit had three hits, including a homer, and three RBIs in the first game, and Brandon Sato and Spencer Omalza each had four hits in the second game for HPU (19-10).



SOFTBALL

Hawai'i, Fresno State game rained out

The Western Athletic Conference softball game last night between Hawai'i and Fresno State at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium was postponed because of rain.

The teams will play a doubleheader today at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Tomorrow, the Rainbows and Bulldogs will play a single game at 8:30 a.m.



Hawai'i Pacific, Hilo lose in pool play

Cal State Dominguez Hills defeated Hawai'i Pacific, 7-2, and Grand Canyon edged Hawai'i-Hilo, 5-4, yesterday in pool play of the Easton Tournament of Champions at Modesto, Calif.

HPU and Hilo each also played another game, and Brigham Young-Hawai'i and Chaminade both played two games. The results of those six games were not available.
