Boy killed in pedestrian accident

A Makakilo boy was fatally injured about 7:25 a.m. today when he was hit by a car while crossing Makakilo Drive near Kanehoa Loop.Witnesses told emergency services workers the boy stepped off a curb on the Wai'anae side on the road and was headed toward a bus stop on the opposite side when he was hit by a car traveling in the mauka direction.
The boy, who witnesses said appeared to be in his mid-teens, was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center-West, where he was pronounced dead about 8:45 a.m.
Police said he was the ninth pedestrian to be killed so far this year on O'ahu in traffic-related incidents.
