ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Stress emergency kit

Advertiser Staff

Everyone gets stressed at work sooner or later. How we deal with the problem is the key to a healthy office atmosphere. Help has arrived in the "Office Stress Management Kit," featuring tip cards for fighting headaches, eye strain, back pain and fatigue. The cards also come with inspirational quotes and stretching exercises.

A stress ball is also included.

Author Darrin Zeer is selling the kits for $9.95. Check it out at chroniclebooks.com, or call (800) 722-6657.

Time to help out birds

The Sierra Club needs volunteers to help clear a wetland of mangrove to create a habitat for endangered waterbirds, 8 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Marine Corps Base Hawai'i in Kane'ohe. This is a bi-monthly event, save for December. (Future events: June 11, Aug. 13 and Oct. 15.)

For more information or to sign up, call Annette Kaohelaulii at 235-5431 before Wednesday to pre-register. All volunteers must be checked through security procedures.

Reader's Tip

Got geckos? Vicki Faufata of Kane'ohe offers a household hint to combat gecko droppings:

"Put lemon oil in a spray bottle, then spray on a soft cloth. Wipe down all window ledges and baseboards. The gecko (droppings) won't stick, so the next time all you will need to do is vacuum it off. No more scrubbing!"
