Hilton names new director

Hilton Hotels Corp. has named Gerhard (Gary) Seibert area vice president and managing director for Hawai'i, replacing Peter Schall, who is retiring in July after 40 years with Hilton.

Seibert, area vice president of the Midwest Region and general manager of the Palmer House Hilton since 2000, will oversee the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort and Spa, Doubletree Alana Waikiki and Hilton Waikoloa Village.

The 32-year Hilton veteran begins his new Hawai'i position June 1.



Tesoro to bless Kapolei facility

Tesoro Hawaii Corp. on Thursday will hold a blessing ceremony and dedication for its new administration building and control house in Kapolei.

The building will be dedicated in the honor of the late James Gary, a longtime Honolulu businessman and president of Pacific Resources Inc., the predecessor of Tesoro.

Gary came to Honolulu in 1967 and transformed the old Honolulu Gas Co. Ltd, into Pacific Resources Inc., a Fortune 500 company. PRI was bought by Australia-based Broken Hill Proprietary Co. Ltd. in 1989. BHP Hawaii was bought by Tesoro in 1998.



Broadband iTV enters into deal

Hawai'i-based Broadband iTV today announced it has entered into an exclusive, multiyear worldwide distribution agreement with OpenTV Corp., one of the world's leading interactive television companies.

BBiTV's interactive television applications will be marketed through OpenTV's sales and marketing staff, with an initial focus on U.S. cable operators.

Broadband iTV, launched in 2002, is focused on the development of television community products that allow individuals and groups to directly participate in and publish content on the local cable operator's interactive TV system, said Milton Diaz, Broadband iTV chief technology officer.



Waikiki retail property sold

A joint venture comprising the Shidler Group, the Mills Group and Watumull Properties has completed its sale of The Shops at 2150 Kalakaua to San Diego-based American Assets Inc.

The Waikiki property has 12,000 feet of retail space and is home to four tenants: Diesel, Oakley, Puma and Whaler's General Store. All tenants have signed long-term leases.

The joint venture, which acquired the property in 2003, previously sold a 21,000-square-foot parking lot that was part of the original project.
