Three local softball players honored

Hawai'i Pacific's Brandi Peiler and Nicole Kalakau, Hawai'i-Hilo's Natalie Fujimoto, and Montana State-Billings' Sara Hanley were selected to the Easton Tournament of Champions All-Tournament softball team and shared this week's Pacific West Conference Player of the Week honor.
Peiler, a freshman outfielder and pitcher, batted .429 for the week with six RBIs and five runs.
Kalakau, a freshman infielder, hit .280 with six RBIs and two runs.
Fujimoto, a junior catcher, batted .267 with seven RBIs and three runs.
Hanley, a senior third baseman and outfielder, hit .529.
Jr. Olympic event set
The state's top junior boxers will compete at theÊ 2005 Hawai'i State Junior Olympic Boxing Championships at Palolo Recreation Center gym.
The event will be held April 16 at 6 p.m. and, if necessary, noon April 17.
Junior boxers, ages 15 to 16, advance to the national championships in Brownsville, Texas, in June.
Weigh-ins will be held at Palolo Gym 3 p.m. April 10. Adults will also compete in non-tournament bouts.

Hawai'i men in third
The University of Hawai'i men's golf team shot a second consecutive 297 and is in third place after the second round of the Bite/Pacific Coast Intercollegiate yesterday in Lompoc, Calif.
The Warriors (594) are behind UC Davis (588) and Washington State (592) in the 21-team tournament being played at La Purisima Golf Course.
Hawai'i's top golfers are Jarett Hamamoto and Travis Toyama, who are tied for 13th with 148 totals. They are six strokes behind leader David Fern of Washington State.
