Oceanit Laboratories has supplied the following information to help you make a telescope. It takes 10 minutes to construct with the items below (Flash Player required to view graphic):
Unscrew large end of male compression adapter.
Place the smaller end on a table with the large opening facing up.
Gently place the large lens into large end of the male compression adapter and center the lens.
Gently place the smaller lens on top of the large lens, and center the lens.
Gently screw back together the male compression adapter. Do not overtighten! The glass lenses are fragile and will break if you overtighten. You have now successfully installed the main lenses.
Screw the female adapter onto the small end of male compression adapter and tighten by hand.
Attach the reducing bushing onto the female adapter.
Insert the 4x1 1/4-inch PVC pipe into the reducing bushing until snug.
Attach the eyepiece into end of the 4x1-inch PVC pipe. Place two small strips of tape on each side of the eyepiece lens to secure. Keep lens opening clear.
Wrap a 1/4-inch-wide rubber band around the 4x1-inch PVC pipe a half-inch below the eyepiece. This is to prevent the eyepiece and PVC pipe from falling to the center of your telescope and breaking the main lenses.
Insert the 4x1-inch PVC pipe inside 1 1/4-inch pipe that is attached to your main telescope. Adjust to focus.
