Twentieth Century Fox • "Melinda and Melinda": Woody Allen's latest. Two playwrights argue over dinner: Is the world tragic or comic? They devise two versions of a story, which changes in detail and tone according to whether it is comedy or tragedy, and the film cuts between those possibilities. (PG-13) • "Sahara": Clive Cussler's action hero Dirk Pitt (Matthew McConaughey) goes on an expedition to the Sahara to find the remains of a long-lost Civil War ironclad ship. Steve Zahn is his sidekick, Penelope Cruz is the U.N. doctor fighting a deadly plague.
