Bank fraud suspects arrested

Police arrested two men, ages 23 and 22, who they believe may be part of group of five men from out of state who recently defrauded Honolulu banks out of approximately $30,000.

Police said they believe members of the group have counterfeited business checks and cashed them at various banks.

Two of the men were caught Friday afternoon while trying to cash forged checks at a Pearl City bank and were arrested for suspicion of second-degree forgery. Police are still looking for the other three men.



Teens accused of robbery

A 16-year-old boy was arrested yesterday after a 17-year-old boy told police he was robbed by three boys about 2:10 p.m. at Booth District Park in the Pauoa area.

The boy who was robbed told police the three other boys approached him, demanded money and took his personal items.

Police found one of the three suspects, arrested him on suspicion of second-degree robbery and released him later pending further investigation.



Boy allegedly threatens girls

An 8-year-old boy was arrested Friday morning after he allegedly threatened four girls at an unnamed Kalihi school with a combination tool.

Police said the boy received the tool as a gift and took it to school to show a friend.

They said the four girls were teasing the boy when he took out the tool, opened the knife attachment and threatened to kill the four girls.

The boy was later released without charges pending further investigation.



Man accused of sexual assault

Police yesterday were holding a 30-year-old Kapolei man as a suspect after a 13-year-old girl told investigators the man, who is an acquaintance, sexually assaulted her on Thursday.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of five counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of third-degree sexual assault.
