Happy homemakers
Advertiser Staff
Homemaking magazines glamorize it and television advertisements make it seem so easy, says Jane Jarrell, author of "Simple Hospitality."
Jarrell offers some tips on manageable homemaking:
• Set your timer when cleaning. Clean as fast and furiously as you can, and when the timer dings, take a break. • Keep cleaning supplies in a bucket. As you move from room to room, you will have everything you need.
Take that first step at an Ola Mau Environmental Series event, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach.
Participating organizations include the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, Sierra Club, Waikiki Aquarium, Dolphin Quest, Waimanalo Ahapua'a, Chaminade Environmental Studies Department and Eco Health.

Celebrating your baby's first birthday is a special occasion not only for the child but for the whole family.
We're looking to share that celebration in our "Moments of Life" monthly feature. If you know of a baby lu'au coming soon, tell us.
Contact Zenaida Serrano at zserrano@honoluluadvertiser.com. Include contact information, and the time and day of the lu'au.
"But we in the trenches know how dull these ongoing household chores can be," she says.
