Tonight's Must-See

"Revelations" debut, 8 p.m., NBC. Like the best moments from "The X-Files," this hour seizes the mind and the emotions. It offers powerful, other-worldly images. Will this show (like some "X-Files" episodes) be an unsatisfying tease? Will it really wrap up a story in six weeks as it promises? We don't know yet, but this opener is fascinating.

Bill Pullman plays an astrophysicist who is shattered by his daughter's murder. Michael Massee plays her unrepentant killer, a satanist. A nun (Natascha McElhone) insists Pullman is connected to something bigger. Ancient prophecies are involved. So is a little girl who has been mumbling in Latin since being struck by lightning. Dramatically filmed, this hour is compelling. It borrows the "West Wing" spot for what could be an interesting stretch.

Of Note

"Lost," 7 p.m., ABC. This reruns the hour that focuses on the tortured father-son relationship between Michael and Walt.

"Stacked" debut, 7:30 p.m., Fox. Pamela Anderson in a world of books? Anything is possible, perhaps. In this opener, which we haven't seen, she wanders into a bookstore in search of self-help books and stays. Elon Gold plays the store co-owner. Christopher Lloyd plays a regular customer.

"American Idol," 8 p.m., Fox. The field is trimmed to seven.

"King of Queens," 8 p.m., CBS. A snowstorm leaves Doug, his wife and his father-in-law each stranded in a different location.

"Alias," 8:01 p.m., ABC. Vaughn is working as a thief in this rerun in exchange for information about what happened to his father.

"Life on a Stick," 8:30 p.m., Fox. Molly follows her older brother's advice in defying a teacher.

"Eyes," 9:02 p.m.," ABC. If this is anywhere near the quality of the first two episodes, it's another must-see. Tonight, Kate Walsh plays the estranged wife of the private-eye firm's whip-smart owner (Tim Daly). Meanwhile, Meg (A.J. Langer of "My So-Called Life") goes undercover as a gambler.
