KCC farmers' market closed Saturday

Roadwork in the Diamond Head area will close the Saturday farmers' market at KCC. The market reopens April 23. Hours are 7:30 to 11 a.m. at Kapi'olani Community College, 4303 Diamond Head Rd.

Chefs to show off their moves at Iolani School fair

In addition to the usual school-fair goodies, this weekend's Iolani School Family Fair features specialty foods and celebrity chef cooking demonstrations in its Le Gourmet booth. The fair is noon to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the school and admission is free. On sale at Le Gourmet: various wraps, specialty mochi, gourmet teas and coffees, salads and desserts.

Chef Göran Streng of the Hawai'i Prince Hotel will prepare sushi and salads from 4 to 8 p.m. both days. Cooking demonstrations Friday are: Elmer Guzman of Sam Choy's Diamond Head, 4 p.m.; Wayne Hirabayashi of Hoku's at the Kahala Mandarin Oriental Hotel, 5:30 p.m.; Quia Chen of Seafood Village, 7 p.m. On Saturday: D.K. Kodama of Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar, 5:30 p.m.; Ronnie Nasuti from Roy's Restaurant, 7 p.m. Information: 943-2339.



Panini for singles

Buca di Beppo in Honolulu has launched a new lunchtime menu that includes four single-serving panini sandwiches — mozzarella caprese (with roasted peppers, tomatoes, basil), meatball provolone, chicken and artichoke and club misto (meats and cheeses). Also available are "Buca Small" portions; these serve two to three diners, as opposed to the four- to six-person "Buca Large" menu. A soup of the day also is offered.
