UH softball team sweeps Tulsa

Ashley Ruff hit a two-run triple in a four-run seventh inning that carried Hawai'i to a 5-3 victory over Tulsa in the second game of a Western Athletic Conference softball doubleheader at Tulsa, Okla.
The Rainbow Wahine, who won the opener 3-0 behind Shannon Tabion's five-hitter, are 23-20 overall and 4-5 in the WAC. Tulsa is 21-25 and 2-4.
Ruff's triple tied the score
3-3, and two more runs scored on a throwing error by the Tulsa second baseman.
UH center fielder Tara Harbert batted 5 for 7 in the two games.
UH women win
Justine Boutet and Sylvia Jaros improved their doubles record to 8-0 as the University of Hawai'i defeated Azusa Pacific, 7-0, yesterday in a women's match at the UH Tennis Complex.
The Rainbow Wahine (9-13) won their fourth match in a row by beating the Cougars (15-5), ranked No. 4 in the NAIA.
Boutet, Lauren Fitzgerald, Kimberly Curtis, Kana Aikawa, Chloe Bihag and Samanta Cappella won singles matches while Fitzgerald teamed with Paige Mainor and Bihag partnered with Curtis to win in doubles.
UH men lose
Azusa Pacific, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, defeated the University of Hawai'i, 4-3, yesterday in a men's match at the UH Tennis Complex.
Gordon Hong beat Chad Faulk, 7-5, 2-6, 6-2, at No. 5 singles to give the Cougars (18-3) the deciding point and hand the Rainbow Warriors (6-13) their third consecutive loss.
Ryan Sceats and Jarrod Diepraam won singles matches for UH, which also took the doubles team point as Sceats teamed with Diepraam and Faulk teamed with Bryon Weinberg to win their matches.
The 14th Annual Hawai'i's Strongest Man Competition will be held Sunday as part of the Spring New Products Show at Blaisdell Center.
Jessie Marunde will try to defend his title against some of the strongest men in the world, including Phil Pfister and Odd Haugen.
The Third Annual Hawai'i's Strongest Teen Competition will be held Saturday. Sene Ma'afala, a senior at Mililani High, will attempt to defend his title.
