If you're wondering why all those folks are streaming into the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall, here's the scoop: It's the 30th annual Spring New Products Show, a virtual tradition in Honolulu. It began yesterday and continues today and tomorrow.

Justine Frederick and Kayleigh Stacy won last year's mother/daughter look-alike contest.
Jewelry, home accessories, fashions, autos, health and beauty products and all the other stuff we love to surround ourselves with is showcased in more than 200 booths, and in time for Mother's Day shopping, too. Among the exhibitors: Chiropractic USA, All Butter Dreams Cookies, Diamond Head Winery, Swirl, Coastal Windows Inc., Kitchen Craft, Reliable Landscaping, too many more to list.

About 17,000 attended last year's expo, and there's no reason to think fewer will indulge this year in stimulating consumerism and sampling. There are other diversions, too, including fashion shows, wrestling, inflatable rides for the kids and rock climbing and a food fair.

The first 200 moms to enter tomorrow will receive a rose.
