POLICE BEAT
Man robbed at knifepoint

Advertiser Staff

Police are looking for a man who robbed a 26-year-old man at the corner of Kapi'olani Boulevard and Ward Avenue early yesterday morning.

Police said the robbery victim told them he met a woman at a Waikiki bar and rode with her in a cab to the corner of Ward and Kapi'olani, where the woman used her cell phone to call friends after the cabbie had dropped them off.

A while later, a dark car pulled up, the driver got out, walked up to the man who had shared the cab with the woman, took out a knife and demanded the man's wallet, police said.

The woman got into the car with the two strangers and the three drove away, police said.

There were no injuries in the incident, which police classified as a first-degree robbery.

Man questioned in assault

Police yesterday questioned and then released an 18-year-old man in connection with a sexual assault case.

An 18-year-old Honolulu woman, who is an acquaintance of the man, told police he assaulted her between 5 and 6 a.m. on Saturday.

Forgery attempt leads to arrests

Two women, ages 18 and 22, were arrested in Wahiawa yesterday after one of the women allegedly tried to cash a forged check.

Police said the woman who tried to cash the check immediately named her companion as the person who had given her the check.

Police said the check had been stolen from a 75-year-old woman.

The two younger women were arrested on suspicion of second-degree forgery.
