POLICE BEAT
Man arrested in alleged assault

Advertiser Staff

Police arrested a 66-year-old man yesterday after a 13-year-old girl told them the man, who is a family member, had sexually assaulted her on several occasions during a seven-year period.

The girl told investigators the assaults began on March 18, 1998 and continued through April 18.

The man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault.

Bogus bill confiscated

A 42-year-old man was arrested at a Kaimuki store yesterday morning after he allegedly tried to buy a money order with a counterfeit $100 bill.

Police said the man handed the bogus bill to a clerk about 8:30 a.m. and that the clerk used a pen with special ink to determine the bill was a fake.

Police and U.S. Secret Service agents were called to the store and arrested the man who passed the bill on suspicion of first-degree forgery.
