Hawaiian posts $2M March loss
Hawaiian Airlines reported an operating profit of $4.4 million on revenue of $69.7 million for March.
That compares with an operating profit of $7.8 million on revenue of $63.7 million in the same month a year earlier. Hawaiian reported a net loss of $2 million for March, compared with net income of $3.3 million a year earlier.
The airline's monthly operating expenses increased by 17 percent to $65.3 million in March compared with the previous year. The biggest factor was fuel costs, which rose by 40.7 percent to $14.4 million. The complete financial report is available online at www.hawaianairlines.com.
LexisNexis tells of stolen data
LexisNexis this week sent letters to 778 Hawai'i residents telling them their personal information including Social Security numbers may have been accessed by unauthorized individuals using stolen passwords and IDs. Nationally, 310,000 people were affected. Consumers will be given free credit report checks for a year and counseling services to cope with any fraudulent use of their personal data, the company said.
Honolulu gas price hits $2.437
The average price for regular gasoline in Honolulu rose more than a penny to a record $2.437 a gallon, according to yesterday's AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
The statewide average was unchanged at $2.526 a gallon i also a record. In Wailuku, Maui, regular gas was $2.784 a gallon. In Hilo on the Big Island, it was $2.547 a gallon.
