A retired maintenance man and security guard who served in the Philippine Army during World War II. Survived by wife, Victorina; daughters, Enriqueta Pumaras, Perlita Abuluyan, Evelyn Layugan, Lorenza Zambrano, Corazon Ramos, Catherine and Maria Abuluyan; sons, Rodolfo, Benny and Arnel; 29 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Generosa Basilio and Maria Abuluyan. ROBERT JOSEPH "LOPAKA" PROULX, 89, of Waikiki and Manchester, N.H., died April 14, 2005. Born in Manchester. A steel guitarist who played for many years with the Hau Tree Gang, at Kuhio Beach and with the Paramount Hawaiian Orchestra in the 1930s. Survived by sons, Donald, Richard, Robert, David and Ronald; daughters, Lucille Tanguay, Irene Frost and Mary Leidemer; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. Service 6 p.m. Saturday at Kuhio Beach across from McDonald's at Liliu'okalani Avenue. Burial was at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Manchester. Donations to the American Diabetes Association.
