High school student safe after reported abduction

Advertiser Staff

An 11th-grade female student who may have been kidnapped from the 'Aiea High School campus about 8 a.m. today was returned unharmed about 90 minutes later, police said.

Police caught up with a white 2003 Ford cargo van about 10 a.m. near the intersection of Moanalua Loop and Kaonohi Street and arrested the driver who said he had returned the girl to the school campus.

Information on what triggered the incident and whether there was a relationship between the student and her alleged abductor was not immediately available. Police said, however, that the van driver was wanted for allegedly violating a temporary restraining order.
