Friendship day for women May 1

Church Women United's annual May Friendship Day celebration, an event for strengthening and building friendly relationships within communities, will be at 3:30 p.m. May 1 at St. Patrick Church, 1124 Seventh Ave., in Kaimuki.
This year's theme is "Living in the Light: True Friends are Salt and Light."
The Rev. Dr. Phyllis Meighen, leader of the John 17:21 Group, also will be honored as Valiant Woman of 2005.
Fellowship begins at 3:30 p.m., followed by a 4 p.m. service.

The Rev. Raniero Cantalamessa, called "preacher to the papal household," will be at 7 p.m. services Wednesday through Friday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Pearl City.
The Hawaii Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services invited the Capuchin priest, who was selected by Pope John Paul II to preach weekly sermons during Advent and Lent to the pope, cardinals, bishops, prelates of the Roman Curia and general superiors of religious orders.
