POLICE BEAT
Arrests made in car break-in

Advertiser Staff

Two men, ages 19 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of multiple criminal offenses yesterday morning after police allegedly found the pair traveling through Hale'iwa in a stolen car.

Police spotted one of the men driving the car about 9:15 a.m. The driver was ordered to pull over and was arrested on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

While the driver was being taken into custody, the other man slid behind the car's steering wheel and took off, police said.

They eventually caught up with the car and arrested the second man on suspicion of car theft, driving without a license and fleeing the scene of an arrest.

After police found what they believed to be items stolen from several car break-ins, the two men were also arrested for suspicion of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle.

Car theft suspect found, police said

A 27-year-old man was arrested about 5 a.m. yesterday at Kailua Beach Park on suspicion of car theft.

Police said patrol officers making routine area checks came upon a car at the park that had its headlights on and the motor running.

A check of the car's license plates showed a 36-year-old man had reported it was stolen from him.

A man found sleeping behind the steering wheel was arrested and taken into custody.

Man accused of threat

A 40-year-old man was arrested at Maile Beach Park early Sunday morning after a 22-year-old woman told police the man pulled a gun on her and threatened to shoot her.

Police went to the park following the 1 a.m. incident and arrested the man for suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.
