BUSINESS BRIEF
Misbranded items net fine
Advertiser Staff
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said it has fined the Honolulu firm Pang & Son $10,000 for allegedly selling and distributing unregistered and misbranded pet products.
The EPA and state inspectors found that Pang & Son sold unregistered versions of Frontline and Advantage, popular flea and tick control products used on dogs and cats.
The counterfeit pesticides appear to have been unlawfully imported and packaged in retail cartons designed to look similar to legitimately registered products, the EPA said in a press release. Last year the EPA ordered 56 companies in seven states, including Hawai'i, to stop selling unregistered pet products.
