A 47-year-old Kona motorcyclist died Sunday evening at The Queen's Medical Center of injuries he suffered in a March 7 crash in Kailua, Kona.

Thomas Wermager, of Kailua, was riding a 1988 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway at about noon when he rear-ended a vehicle stopped in traffic near the Kealakehe Parkway intersection, police said.

The driver of the vehicle, a 47-year-old Kailua, Kona, woman, was not injured.

Wermager was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the crash.

Hotline tips lead to Puna ice raids

Tips to the Big Island's Ice Hotline resulted in police raids on two 'Ainaloa residences in Puna yesterday.

Police arrested two men, ages 40 and 56, at a Pearl Street home after finding two glass smoking pipes, packets used to package drugs, a small amount of crystal methamphetamine and two firearms.
