University of Hawai'i outside hitter Pedro Azenha and libero Alfred "Alfee" Reft yesterday were named to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation volleyball first team.

"He was a good outside hitter for us," UH coach Mike Wilton said of Azenha, who completed his NCAA eligibility at the end of Saturday's MPSF playoff loss to Long Beach State.

"We asked him to hit out of the back row and left front, and he did that very well," Wilton added. "He served pretty well and he blocked pretty well."

Wilton said Reft, who transferred from UC Santa Barbara in August 2003, "got a year better. He had some marvelous matches, and was very consistent."

UH middle blocker Mauli'a LaBarre was named to the MPSF third team, and outside hitter Matt Bender received honorable mention.

Pepperdine swept the MPSF's three individual awards. Outside hitter Sean Rooney was selected as Player of the Year, setter Jonathan Winder as Freshman of the Year, and Marv Dunphy as Coach of the Year.
