A little brotherly blarney

Advertiser Staff

Bernard Hill is John Joe and Andrea Corr is Anne in "The Boys & Girl from County Clare," screening at the Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Academy of Arts beginning today. The comedy, set in 1960s Ireland, is about brothers John Joe and Jimmy (Colm Meaney), whose long-running feud turns musical as each enters a Celtic band in Ireland's biggest competition. There's romance, too, as Anne, a member of John Joe's band, falls in love with a member of Jimmy's band.

The film, at 90 minutes, is unrated. Showtimes are at 1, 4 and 7:30 p.m. today through Sunday; 7:30 p.m. Monday; and 1 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. And if you're in the mood for more Celtic entertainment, there's the "Lord of the Dance" down the street at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.
