Last Evensong event tomorrow

The last Evensong event for the season, "The Joy of Singing," will be at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral. The monthly Evensongs, which are presented on the first Sunday each month, will resume Sept. 4.

The sing-along hymns and anthems accompanied by organ, massed choir, and orchestra will be led by Massed Choir, Cathedral Choirs, with orchestra and cathedral musician Arlan Sunnarborg conducting.

Find faith-based health services

The state Department of Health's office of health equity has posted on its Web site a directory of faith-based organizations that offer health promotion and prevention activities.

The Faith-Based Health Directory is at www.hawaii.gov/health.

Activities and programs provided by some places of worship include: blood pressure and cholesterol screening, exercise classes, stop-smoking programs, immunization, and programs on cancer, diabetes, mental health and alcohol/drug abuse. Breast cancer awareness May 8

On May 8, Pink Ribbon Sunday, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Hawai'i affiliate, will work with local places of worship to help promote breast cancer awareness.

Money available for organ lessons

The Hawai'i Chapter of the American Guild of Organists is holding auditions for the 14th annual organ scholarship competition. Scholarships are for residents who would like to study organ performance. They pay one half of the cost of lessons for one year.
