A man was shot to death yesterday in an apparent dispute at a Waialua home, police said, and a suspect was under arrest.
The body of the 19-year-old victim was found outside a house at 66-039 Waialua Beach Road, shot once in the chest.
Police, responding to an 8:25 a.m. call about a shooting, also found a gun and a large knife or machete.
The suspect, also 19 and of Waialua, was booked on suspicion of second-degree murder at the Wahiawa police substation at 9:01 a.m.
Police said the two men were involved in a dispute that may have started with an early-morning telephone call from the suspect to the victim.
The man who received the call allegedly threatened to kill the caller and went to his house carrying a large knife, according to preliminary reports.
The victim reportedly swung the knife at the caller and was shot, police said.
