8TH-GRADER EARNS SCHULER AWARD

Twelve-year-old Evelynn Iosua has been awarded the Schuler Family Foundation Award for Scholastic Achievement for youth in the Lawakua O Kalihi Kajukenbo martial arts club.

Iosua had a 3.7 grade-point average as a seventh-grader at Dole Middle School and will enter the eighth grade at Iolani School, aided by a Weinberg Scholarship.

She made the Dole principal's list every quarter and is an accomplished athlete.

Through the Parents and Children Together's Community Teen Program, Iosua has been actively involved in activities ranging from league sports to community service since she was 8 years old.


HPU ENTERPRISE TEAM WINS 5TH TITLE

The Students in Free Enterprise team at Hawai'i Pacific University has won the regional championship for the fifth year in a row.

Each team gave a presentation of the results of their education outreach programs throughout the year. All projects must address the mission of the organization, which advocates free market education, entrepreneurship, ethics, business consulting and philanthropy.


STUDENT EARNS CULINARY HONORS

Andy Hata of Honolulu, a sophomore majoring in nutrition and hospitality management at Syracuse University's College of Human Services and Health Professions, has been awarded the school's Culinary Excellence Award.
