Teen arrested in Nanakuli fire

Police yesterday arrested a second teenage boy on suspicion of starting a brushfire in Nanakuli on July 1.
The 13-year-old Nanakuli boy turned himself in at the Kapolei police station yesterday and was booked on one count of second-degree property damage. He was released at 12:15 p.m. without charges pending further investigation.
On July 25, a 14-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the same brushfire at Farrington Highway and Haleakala Avenue. He also was released pending further investigation.
Yesterday's arrest brings to four the number of people arrested and accused of starting brushfires in the past four months.
On July 21, a 19-year-old 'Ewa Beach man was arrested in connection with a July 6 brushfire that investigators said was deliberately set just a couple of miles from the suspect's home. On May 19, a 13-year-old Nanakuli Intermediate School student was arrested and accused of setting a fire that burned 3,000 acres at the back of Nanakuli Valley.
KANE'OHE MAN REPORTED MISSING
Police and fire personnel will resume their search this morning for a 90-year-old man who was reported missing yesterday in Kane'ohe.
Police said Federico Balderas suffers from Alzheimer's disease and was last seen at a relative's home in Kane'ohe at about 6:45 a.m.
Balderas is visiting from Lana'i and police said he may have hiked into the mountain area above Hui Iwa Place.
Police and fire crews concentrated their search in that area yesterday, but failed to find Balderas.
Balderas is 5 feet, 110 pounds with gray hair and dark eyes. He was last wearing a blue Las Vegas cap, long black pants, denim jacket, slippers and glasses.

BABY'S INJURIES BEING INVESTIGATED
Honolulu police are investigating the case of a 3-month-old boy brought to Tripler Army Medical Center with head injuries.
The infant, who is from the Salt Lake area, was brought to the emergency room about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, police said. Doctors were told he had injured his head in a fall, but they felt the injuries were suspicious and called police.
No arrests have been made and the child's condition was not available.
KANE'OHE TRAINING WILL INCLUDE BLASTS
The Marine Corps Base at Kane'ohe Bay will conduct training today and tomorrow with demolitions and 60mm mortars.
Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sounds of explosions may be amplified and heard in surrounding communities, the Corps said.
The training is scheduled from 8 to 11:30 a.m today and 8 a.m to 4 p.m. tomorrow.
