Wahine start the season at No. 4

The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team has been ranked No. 4 to start the 2005 season in the College Sports Television/American Volleyball Coaches Association poll announced today.

The Wahine, who finished eighth last year at 30-1, will open against No. 1-ranked Nebraska Aug. 26 in the NACWAA Volleyball Showcase at Omaha, Neb. Nebraska, which was 30-2 in 2004, received 35 of the 60 first-place votes cast.

Washington, with 15 first-place votes, was second and defending national champion Stanford, with eight first-place votes, was third in the poll of coaches. UH received one first place vote.
