"Beautiful People" debut, 9 p.m., ABC Family. For this family, everything has changed. Lynn Kerr (Daphne Zuniga) saw her marriage end. Now she has moved from the quiet of New Mexico to the furor of New York City. She'll work in a clothing store and scrape by. Her older daughter Karen (Torrey DeVitto) will try to model, competing with a city full of rail-thin beauties. Her younger daughter Sophie (Sarah Foret) has a scholarship to a fancy school; shy and sensitive, she's in a setting of glitz and wealth. At times, "Beautiful People" veers into cliches with broad, TV versions of rich people. At other times, however, it brings surprises. One of the popular guys is surprisingly sweet; one of the outsiders is surprisingly troubled. There's potential here. Beautifully cast and intelligently acted, this reminds us that ABC Family has done a superb job lately on its original shows.

OF NOTE

"Dr. No" (1962), 5 and 7:15 p.m., AMC. In a smart move, this cable channel is showing the first five James Bond films in order, one a night. These are good ones, with Sean Connery starring.

"Monday Night Football," 6:30 p.m., ABC. Ever since 1970, "Monday Night Football" has been an ABC cornerstone. Now it begins its final season before sliding over to cable's ESPN. This is a pre-season game between the Miami Dolphins and the Chicago Bears. Al Michaels does the play-by-play.

"Renovate My Family," 7 and 8 p.m., Fox. This feel-good reality show returns temporarily with two new hours. Jay McGraw, who has worked on his dad's "Dr. Phil," hosts. Families get help with their houses and advice on their lives.

"Home of the Brave" (2004), 7 p.m., Court TV. Forty years ago, Viola Liuzzo — a white civil-rights activist from Detroit — was killed in Selma, Ala. This moving documentary by Paola di Florio follows one of the daughters as she traces the story. It also catches a surprising aftermath: One of Liuzzo's sons became a loner, living in the Alabama woods. Another was second in command of the Michigan Militia. He had a trailer in the Michigan woods then disappeared after the Patriot Act was passed.
