Fashion and entertainment are fusing in Honolulu as they have in major metropolitan areas on the Mainland. Some hip young Island designers are holding their shows in nightclubs, while others roll out red carpets or build runways in bars and lounges.

Now there's a new take on the trend: Fashionista's Market, a designer sample sale to be held at the Ocean Club.

Sisters Emi Hart, event planner for the Ocean Club, and Alyssa Fung, an aesthetician with the Mandara Spa, are unabashed acquirers. They call themselves "The Style Sisters."

"My sister gets a gold medal in shopping," said Hart. The two went sleuthing together in Los Angeles and New York and brought back fashions from more than 40 trendy companies, including Seven for All Mankind, Juicy Couture, Miss Sixty, Citizens for Humanity and Earl Jeans. While they will not reveal their sources for the garments, they promise deep discounts — up to 75 percent off retail prices. Sizes range from XS to L; prices begin at $30 and cap at about $150.

In addition to the fashions, the event will feature complimentary mimosas and makeovers by Leomana Cosmetics. The first 50 women to attend each day will receive a goody bag with samples from Sephora and an issue of Smart magazine.

All admission-charge proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
