WIFE ARRESTED IN ALLEGED ASSAULT

Police are checking into a report filed by a 40-year-old Kaimuki man who said his wife attacked him Tuesday evening and held him captive at the couple's Wai'alae Avenue home overnight.

The husband told police that when he got home from work about 11:30 p.m., his wife attacked him with a flashlight, striking him in the head and body.

The husband told police he ran to the bedroom to try to get away from the wife, 34, but she followed right behind him, picked up a knife and threatened him.

The husband said that moments later, he could hear police knocking at his front door.

He said he was just about to call for help when his wife held the knife to his throat and told him she would kill him if he said anything.

The man told police he was afraid and stayed on his bed until yesterday morning, when he was able to flee from the home and call police.

The wife was arrested about 11 a.m. yesterday on suspicion of assault and terroristic threatening.

MISSING INMATE CAUGHT IN HILO

HILO — Big Island police have captured a 38-year-old man who had been sought since he failed to return to jail in April after being released on a short-term furlough.

East Hawai'i vice officers arrested Christopher Neal Nasario at a Hilo home on Railroad Avenue at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Police said they found Nasario at the home while they were serving an unrelated search warrant.

Nasario was charged with escape from the Hawai'i Community Correctional Center in Hilo. The center had reported Nasario missing on April 2.
