Isle gymnast finishes seventh in U.S. Classic

Hawaiian Island Twisters gymnast Megan Harada placed seventh in the pre-elite junior compulsory division at the U.S. Classic competition at the Virginia Beach (Va.) Pavilion, July 22 to 24.

Her all-around score was 34.964. She was seventh in the vault (8.966), seventh in the uneven bars (9.116), eighth in the balance beam (8.716), and eighth in the floor exercise (8.166).

She also finished 10th in the pre-elite junior optionals division, with 32.082 points for her all-around score.

Harada, 14, placed second in the vault (8.883), fourth in the balance beam (8.233), fourth in the floor exercise (8.200), and 14th in the uneven bar (6.766).


MONDEN 9TH IN DIVING

St. Andrew's senior Aleia Monden earned All-America status in the 3-meter at the AAU National Diving Championships in Largo, Fla., July 29.

Monden, 16, finished ninth with 335.65 points in her girls group 'A' division, competing for Tropic Lighting.

She earned All-America status by finishing in the top 12 of her division.
