Korean film '3-Iron' playing through at the Academy of Arts' theater

In the South Korean film "3-Iron," continuing at the Honolulu Academy of Arts' Doris Duke Theatre, drifter Tae-suk (Jae Hee, left) searches out empty houses to live in while their owners are away. One day, as he sneaks into a home, he meets Sun Hwa (Seung-yeon), who wants to escape her unhappy marriage.
The 2004 film, 95 minutes long, is directed by Kim Ki-duk and is in Korean, with English subtitles. It screens at 4 and 7:30 p.m. today; 1, 4 and 7:30 p.m. tomorrow; 7:30 p.m. Monday; and 1 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. It kicks off a Spotlight on Korean Cinema series, which continues through Aug. 21, presented by the Hawaii International Film Festival and KBFD.
