LIHU'E, Kaua'i — A team of endurance outrigger canoe paddlers will set out tomorrow on a 280-mile, day-and-night voyage between Nihoa and French Frigate Shoals in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands.

For the Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Voyaging Society, this represents the latest leg in its mission to paddle the entire 1,400-mile length of the Hawaiian archipelago, from the Big Island to Kure Atoll.

The Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Voyaging Society's trip will be the first conducted entirely with human propulsion, without benefit of sail.
