  • BEN FUKUMOTO has been installed as president of the United Japanese Society of Hawaii. He is also vice chairman of the Hiroshima-Hawaii Sister-State/Prefecture Committee and on the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii board of governors.

  • BRIAN N. SUNADA has joined the Commercial Real Estate Division of First Hawaiian Bank as a senior vice president. He will succeed John Landgraf as division head after Landgraf's retirement Sept. 1. Sunada is a veteran of two decades of commercial real estate banking at Bank of Hawaii, and, after that, with American Savings Bank. His career has also included 14 years with C. Brewer & Co. subsidiaries, Hawaiian Agronomics Co. and Hawaiiana Investment Co.

  • Atlantis Adventures has named DAVID FINNELL controller. The certified managerial accountant previously managed accounting operations for National Commercial Flooring in Virginia. Atlantis Adventures owns Atlantis Submarines' 10 locations worldwide, and Atlantis Cruises, and provides sales and marketing services for Sea Life Park Hawaii.

  • KELLIE KEHAULANI HARRIS has been promoted to director of operations at Compadres Bar & Grill in Ward Centre. Harris joined the restaurant in 1999 as a part-time hostess.

  • ROBERT HANN, of Trane Pacific Service Co., has been installed as president of the Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Association of Hawai'i, a group with 30 companies as members. Other officers for 2005-2006 include vice president, SKIP MORGAN of Alaka'i Mechanical Corp.; secretary, PATRICK MIURA of Heide & Cook Ltd.; and treasurer, TYRUS KAGAWA of Oahu Plumbing and Sheet Metal Ltd.

  • Carine Foo, former manager of financial planning and analysis, has been named controller at Hawaiian Tug & Barge/Young Brothers Ltd., an Interisland cargo company. Foo, who has been with the company since 1995, will oversee all accounting and information systems functions. Also, DEAN KAPOI, former company director of labor relations, has been named Honolulu operations manager. Young Brothers maintains ports at Honolulu, Maui, Moloka'i, Lana'i, Kaua'i, Hilo and Kawaihae.

  • NOELLE LIEW has joined the Hawai'i Convention Center as finance director, overseeing all accounting functions, including financial analysis, budgeting, contracts and purchasing. She was previously controller for The Arc in Hawaii, an advocate nonprofit organization for people with developmental disabilities.

  • DR. CHARLES ROY KELLEY has been named to the volunteer board of directors of Kahala Senior Living Community Inc., the Hawai'i not-for-profit corporation that developed the Kahala Nui senior living community. Kelley is vice president of marketing, special markets, for Outrigger Enterprises Inc., Hawai'i's largest lodging company, and serves as president of Outrigger Tours and Travel. Before entering the hospitality and tourism industry, Kelley was a board certified physician for Straub Clinic & Hospital in the medical specialties of internal medicine and occupational medicine. He remains on the board of directors of Outrigger Enterprises and Straub Foundation.

  • FRANKIE CHUNG — who began his McDonald's career as a crew person in 1980 and worked his way up through the company — has been named director of operations for McDonald's Hawai'i region. His career has also included positions as area supervisor, operations manager and multi-department head. McDonald's Restaurants of Hawai'i has 86 restaurants and more than 3,500 employees in Hawai'i, Guam and Saipan.
