Urban Rejuvenation isn't your typical home furnishings store, and it's made quite clear by the lace undies, Chinese fabric purses and funky designer jeans featured prominently in one of its window displays.

The store's offerings — from a Southeast Asian-inspired dining set to Cuban mojito mixes and Brazilian necklaces — are aimed to please Island residents in search of trendy products. The store joins an ever-growing number of fashionable stores with items for the home in Hono-lulu.

"While our products tend to appeal to the younger urban set, you'll find that we are popular with consumers in a wide age range," said co-owner Sam Szabla, who was in the middle of setting up the store last week.

The new Honolulu home store, which opens today at Aloha Tower Marketplace, is among six nationwide. The store reflects the ambiance of Miami's famed four-star Beach Plaza Hotel (where tropical meets art deco) and the adjacent South Beach Villas, properties with which Urban Rejuvenation has a design partnership, Szabla said.

The 12,500-square-foot layout is packed with furniture pieces, including bedroom sets, shelving and chairs. Sofas start at $1,199, with 70 types of fabrics and 12 styles, allowing customers to mix and match. Home accessories include a variety of bedding, drapes and candles.

Urban Rejuvenation also carries clothing, such as men's boxers and silk pajamas, and women's dresses.

While Szabla describes the items as "casual luxury," its prices are reasonable, he said: bath towels for $19, lingerie starting at $8.95, halter tops and margarita sets for $39 each, rings starting at $18, and a complete cabana furniture set for $599.

Rounding out the selection is an array of bath and beauty products, gourmet foods, bar accessories, books, and CDs, which customers can sample at a music listening station.

"It's all-encompassing," Szabla said. "This is a lifestyle we're creating."
