Attempted-murder suspect, 16, arrested
A 16-year-old Wai'anae boy was arrested for suspicion of attempted murder early yesterday morning after he allegedly fired a gun at a 29-year-old Wai'anae man with whom he has had an ongoing dispute.
The man told police the boy stopped his car in front of his property on Wai'anae Valley Road about 2:30 a.m., and shot at him and missed before speeding away.
The man reported the incident to police who went to the boy's home and arrested him. He was later identified by the victim as the one who had fired the shot, police said.
The boy was later released without charges pending further investigation.
Three robbed at Sandy Beach
Police were checking into a report filed by three men yesterday who said they were robbed early Tuesday morning at Sandy Beach.
The three men, ages 17, 22 and 24, told police they were sitting in their car about 4:25 a.m. when a car pulled up next to them and two men in their 20s got out.
One of the men was armed with a pipe and demanded one of the three men in the parked car turn over his money. He then hit the victim with the pipe.
The second man approached the parked car and demanded a wallet from the second of the three men and punched him before the second victim handed over the wallet.
The two robbers then smashed out the windows of a car parked next to the victim's car and removed parts of a CD player, police said.
The robbers then drove off toward Makapu'u in a car that had been reported stolen earlier, police said. The car was found abandoned later in Waimanalo.
New surveillance camera leads to robbery arrest
A homeless woman was arrested Tuesday night in a Waikiki apartment complex garage after police set up a surveillance operation in response to a series of thefts from cars parked at the garage.
Police said they watched as the woman drove a car into the garage at 444 Hobron Lane about 9 p.m. and realized she was someone who was known to them and that she did not have a valid driver's license. They also knew a warrant had been issued for the woman's arrest in a prior criminal case.
Officers closed in on the 43-year-old woman and arrested her for suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, driving without a license and on the warrant in the criminal case.

A diver who drowned off Waikiki this past weekend was positively identified by the city medical examiner as Richard M. Ramirez, 44, of Kapahulu.
Ramirez was free diving off the Kapahulu Groin in an area known as "Walls" but it is not clear if he died Saturday or Sunday, when his body was pulled from the water by city lifeguards.
