Paul Mitchell to open cosmetology school

Paul Mitchell The School today announced the opening of its first Hawai'i cosmetology school Sept. 11 at the Ulupono Academy in Honolulu.

John Paul De Joria, Paul Mitchell chief executive officer, and Angus Mitchell, son of the late Paul Mitchell, founder of Paul Mitchell Systems, are scheduled to attend grand opening ceremonies set to start at 6 p.m.

Ulupono Academy is one of 52 schools across the country to have been selected for program since 2002. Ulupono's home-grown Hawaiian owners, Joannie Rossiter, a national educator with John Paul Mitchell Systems, and her sister, Sandra Rowland, have prepared and trained for the school opening for more than three years.



New storage facility opens in Waikiki

Silver Oaks Investment yesterday opened its latest Hawai'i self storage facility, a 1,200-unit building in Waikiki.

Waikiki Self Storage on Kalauokalani Way, which air conditioned storage units specially designed to accommodate surf board and kayaks, is part of an ongoing boom of self-storage development on O'ahu, where a half dozen or so major facilities are under design or construction.
